2020.09.24 19:06 nextuser001 In depth Muzmatch (mainly) and online dating review

Now, this will be a non-positive review but I want to say, there are many genuine people on the app (muzmatch/MM) and many people do find someone sooner or later. But the overall theme of the app, for me, is bad. I’m a very analytical person and made a number of observations which I have not heard beforehand when I was reading around before deciding to use it.
I’m a guy. I used MM and also two dating sites. I used MM for 2 months. The following is not just for appearance but in terms of success/education and religiousness also; I’d describe myself as a solid 7/10 and easily 8/10 depending on the type of girl at the other end. I hate describing things in such a manner but for the sake of this review I will from time to time use this method as it’s hard to get the point across otherwise. This review will not be about me really, but I felt I should give my experience with the app/dating sites as I am writing a review.
I’ve had a several weeks where I had 1 match a week and several weeks where I had around a dozen matches a week. I live near a large western city. Based on our conversations, only 2 proceeded and I’m in touch with them and am seeing how it goes. And I have deleted the app and regret using it. For me, the process of finding someone was always, always about compatibility on a deeper level and thankfully there are people like that out there, but this app is DESIGNED to make it about competition.
Well look, dating is always going to be about competitiveness and comparisons, but I found dating sites in general and the app MM more so, to greatly accentuate these qualities. The real winners in this game are not the males/females looking for a relationship but the app and brand that is MM. Of course, many people do find love, someone compatible, and will continue to do so, but I’m speaking about the overall… aura and feel of the process. The app is specifically designed in a way to be addictive, to make you question your self-worth (both male and female) and draw out money from people.
The more competitive the apps/dating sites are, the more money they can draw out from people as the search for someone, turns into a race for someone.
The market in the online dating game is generally skewed towards having more males than females. This is especially the case in western apps like Tinder simply due to one glaringly huge reason: males who want casual sex. There are more men on MM but you’d have to be really dumb to use MM to hook up with people, it may even work but probably rare. I don’t know the stats but it’s fairly obvious in this day and age especially, 90%+ (rough estimate) on the app MM are looking for a relationship.
So why are there more men? Because that skews the whole playing field, statistically the are more or less similar number of Muslim males to females in the west. One reason is, the age range, men in the 20-35 age range are interested in women in the 20-25 age range (rough estimates), so even though in real life the stats are balanced, in the sites and apps there is more of a leniency towards younger women going for older men. Another reason is due to the how reserved our cultures are still towards women, so many Muslim women – their parents arrange something whereas for men, their parents arrange something for them but they are also most likely on the online playing field – something which many parents still might not be comfortable with for their Muslim daughters. There are likely other reasons, but these are the ones I picked up upon after reading around.
Why are the stats so important – well because it creates a negative feedback loop. Men sign up, message a few women, those women already have a ton of interest, the new men realize women can be picky, and they too start spamming likes or messages. And so that makes women even more picky because more men are interested etc etc.
Women aren’t cold, heartless, picky creatures by choice. Many a times I’ve read how picky women are on these sites/apps. Here’s the truth: they don’t have a choice; they are not in charge of that decision. It’s hard to take each man’s interest too seriously when you know for a fact that 80%< of them liked a hundred female profiles before you and probably will continue liking another 100 profiles after yours. Can you put yourself in their shoes and see how it’s hard not to not take men seriously once you realise that you are one of hundreds of likes? Again – this is a feature of the app, it creates a vapid, shallow playing field with these purposefully designed tricks – it is slightly better on dating websites because you generally have to send a message plus if it’s generic it’s obvious. But with the app you HAVE TO like or dislike, and so women on these apps open their app after the weekend and when they see 300 likes on their profile they can’t help but think… men are so ‘thirsty’ – I hate that word but again, words like that go hand in hand with apps like these. And then certain number of men will pay to like more profiles, to send more messages – again, the app is winning by creating competition and superficiality.
I know I’ve mentioned this before but I will again, someone might be reading this rather negative review but they found someone compatible – had a decent experience – I’m speaking about the overall process and what it is like for probably the majority of people.
Another point I have not seen before is, people always say, the vast majority being guys, that it effects the confidence, based on reading around it’s clear men aren’t happy with the amount of times the likes or messages are reciprocated. But confidence issues don’t just effect men but women also in a different way – all the females see all the male profiles, they see all the 9/10, 10/10 type guys (again, religiously, financially, physically or a combination) and they want that. They really do and it’s not pleasant when the guy isn't interested or loses interest. As those guys are also picky. So on many female profiles you will see ‘only serious people’ or ‘no time wasters’, this always makes me cringe because if this is a big issue all they are saying is that they generally like really high profile guys, who aren’t serious or just wasted their time – erm… they are speaking to other women and became disinterested. Same goes for guys, some guys do mention how people on these apps or sites aren’t serious – they are, most Muslims on Muslim dating apps, want to be in a relationship, they were obviously speaking to more than one person and only one person makes the cut. There are creeps as well who genuinely waste time or aren’t serious but let’s be honest most Muslims on Muslim dating apps above the ages of 23 especially, are looking for a partner.
Again, people aren’t vapid, people aren't so hyper focused on getting the best – these apps trigger these qualities. We weren’t evolutionary designed to scroll through a thousand different potential partners where you get 3 seconds to make a decision on each one. In real life, in real social settings, we are designed to talk with and meet one person at a time, and if we decided to meet them, we will likely spend some time talking. That’s natural, that’s genuine – of course this isn’t feasible in the western world where it’s hard to meet other potential Muslims. Women are picky on the dating sites and apps – but it’s like this. Pizza is delicious, when someone meets someone form the opposite sex of a similar age and similar interests, there’s chemistry, pizza is delicious. But if you have to choose between 400 different types of pizza, all of a sudden only certain types of pizza’s look appealing. I say this because a lot of guys especially on this reddit sub and in general forums take it to heart and don’t have the mental acuity to see that, it’s not that most women wouldn’t be interested in you as a person, it’s that they are not interested in your website or app profile because there are hundreds of others, it’s a highly unnatural way to genuinely make a connection – although of course it does happen and people do find the love of their life, the app certainly works.
I wanted to write this, precisely because I feel many people don’t understand that the dating experience online (app or site) is highly unpleasant but it’s due to the playing field and the rules and how it’s set up. There is nothing wrong with the vast majority of people who can’t find someone or develop a lower sense of self worth. My advice would be try and meet another Muslim in real life where you can make a more genuine connection right off the bat, or at least use matrimonial sites where you write out your whole profile and girls write out theirs, and instead of it being a competition, a match maker joins two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. I don't want to end on this because it sounds like an ad for matrimonial services hahaha XD, but seriously do anything, whatever else, just avoid the app, dating sites are slightly better but less Muslims.
This was a review, I don't personally want a discussion - other people can freely do so, if I said something that offended someone in some way, I'm sorry. Over and out.

2020.09.24 16:37 roboto_jones Built my First PC as 31st Birthday to Myself - My Full Experience : Specs, Purchase (from Australia), 7 hours live-streamed Build, NO POST, Troubleshoot, & Lesson - Super Long Post!

Photos of my FIRST PC Build! & a photo of me with the laptop it's replacing!
Story:
Initially I wanted to buy a pre-built PC for my 31st birthday but after reading some comments and posts (especially here on buildapc), I decided to build one myself - to save some $$$ but to also as a learning experience; oh boy did I learn some lessons.
The PC was built to replace my aging 2013 ASUS G750JX.
Primary use is for Gaming - WoW: Shadowlands, Cyberpunk 2077, Halo : Infinite, & Assassin's Creed : Norway Simulator. No Microsoft Flight Sim here. Secondary for Work - Autodesk Revit, Rhinoceros 5, 3DS Max, SketchUp, & Vray. Occassionaly for Streaming and Video editting - Twitch Studio, Adobe Rush.
After watching/reading a lot of guides, parts selected, and parts arrived - I decided to live-stream my entire build: YouTube link of my stream reduced from 7 hours to 1 hour.
I also thought I'd share my experience with you guys by making a SUPER LONG post.
So like days when games guides were giant TXT files from GameFAQS, I divided this into CHAPTERS!

Chapters:
A001 - PC SpecsA002 - Specs Lesson / Alternates OptionsB001 - Budget Info & Store Choice - from an Australian buyer perspectiveB002 - Spec vs Price Comparison - at time of purchase on August 22B003 - Delivery & Arrival date of Packages - Guess which package arrived the quickestC001 - Build Guides - some tutorials that I found usefulD001 - My 7 hours Build - Live Streamed!D002 - NO POST! & Troubleshooting - with the help from one of my viewers.E001 - Post-Build & General Lessons LearntE002 - Next Upgrades Selection & WishlistF001 - Special Thanks & Shameless Self-Promo
Just Ctrl+F and search the code "AXXX" for that specific chapter and you'll jump right to it!

// A001 - PC Specs // PC Part Picker list : https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/rXzGWb

// A002 - Specs Lesson / Alternates Options //
I won't go to Part-by-Part because honestly, I'm no expert - I'll link to a guide if I find one. These are just some of the things I noted after my build.
Choosing your Parts Lessons / Tips :

Alternate Options - Some parts I considering as alternate to fit a lower budget:

At time of purchase, the 30 GPUs Series were still rumored, with only leaked images. So I went with an RX 5700 XT because it felt like it was the best Bang for the Buck and that it would be a longer wait if I wanted the Nvidia 30 series or AMD 6000 series.
If time is not a constraint for you, I'd say it's definitely worth waiting for the new GPUs.

// B001 - Budget Info & Store Choice //
I initially wanted to buy a Pre-Built PC but after deciding to build my own, I just used the initial budget for my parts.
Being in Australia, a giant island away from everyone else, parts are more expensive. Most tech reviews will mention the USD prices and unfortunately it's not a 1:1 currency conversion - so set expectations accordingly.
I specifically chose these stores because I've made purchases from there before and they're local.
I wanted to order locally to avoid any international shipping and direct customer service if I faced any issues. I also just wanted to help out local stores as much as I could during this pandemic season - eventhough business for e-retailers are booming right now.
Other Australian stores worth checking out are: Mwave & PLE & SKYCOMP

// B002 - Spec vs Price Comparison //
A quick schedule I made for each parts by the selected AU Stores I've purchased from:
BOLD items are the lowest price found. Italics items were sold-out / pre-order listed.Prices shown were from purchase on August 25.Price listed as Australian Dollars - AUD$Price with (*) means the place I bought the part from.

TOTAL PRICE OF LOWEST & AVAILABLE PARTS = AUD$2296
By the cost comparison, PCByte was the best place to purchase IF they had all the stock - which sadly wasn't the case.
So I ended purchasing the parts from PCCG, Centrecom, PCByte separately, which the total parts costs was $1 higher than the total at PCByte. The most parts I ordered from was at CentreCom for their free delivery. PCCG was the only place that had the Case & PSU, so I ordered it from there as well.
AS A TEST, I ordered another 'Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18' from AmazonUS for $99.20 + $16.50. To see how fast it would arrive and 32GB RAM would be great to have. Boy oh boy, the $4 savings than the price at CentreCom was not worth it.
TOTAL COST INCLUDING DELIVERY = AUD$2,442.70

// B003 - Delivery & Arrival date of Packages//
A summary from Order Date to Shipment Arrival for each store:

One thing to note for my orders with CentreCom & PCByte, I decided to pay via Bank Transfer to save from the 1-2% surcharge on payments made via PayPal or Credit Card but then it took those stores time to verify the payment has been received before shipping the order out.
PC Byte was quick to process the payment, only requiring a Transaction Receipt to verify. CentreCom took much longer which resulted in the slower shipment than the AmazonUS from Whitestown, Indiana, USA to Melbourne, Australia.

// C001 - Build Guides //
The number 1 that helped me was RTFM - READ THE FRIENDLY MANUAL. (Thanks Jay) Most of things you need to know on the part and how to install is mentioned in in their respective manual. There are general information that applies to each part but they can vary slightly from different manufacturers - so read carefully.
Again, I won't go through part-by-part guides. Just some guides & information that I found useful.
Here's some of the tutorial videos that helped me with my build:

// D001 - My 7 hours Build - That I Live Streamed! //
Here's an edited down version of the stream from 7 hours to 1 hour & minus the few times my recording dropped for some reason.
So I did watch all the guides and videos listed previous chapter. Also, read the manuals of most of the products online before even receiving the parcels. Still, I was a nervous a mess!
I did buy a whole set of tiny screw bits for $19 because it has that weird bendy bit for hard to reach spots. 100% not required at all, definitely an overkill on my part.
A simple breakdown of the video, this is NOT a guide - just a summary and some handy tips I recalled:
  1. Installed as much parts as you could onto the MoBo - the CPU, RAM, & NVME SSD.
    1. Make sure the CPU is placed oriented correctly!
    2. Check the RAM is installed in the right order! RAM may require some force!
    3. Make sure you got the right standoff for your NVME SSD. Don't leave one below in the middle of the NVME as it may damage it.
  2. Prepared the AIO CPU Cooler (Corsair H100X) - made sure the right brackets & mounting brackets were in place.
    1. Read the manual!
    2. Don't touch face of the cooler! Leave the cover on.
  3. Installed the fans onto the radiator - in a pull configuration. Just to make the fans visible honestly.
  4. Installed the radiator onto the radiator mounting bracket from case (NZXT H510).
    1. Check your case's manual!
  5. Recording Dropped! Prepared my case before I placed my MoBo.
    1. Install the IO Shield. Mine is pre-installed, so don't need to worry about it.
    2. Checked the right standoffs are in-place to receive my ATX MoBo. DON'T leave any unnecessary standoff on the case, it may DAMAGE your MoBo.
  6. Placed my MoBo into the case.
    1. Angle it slight for an easier insert.
    2. Screw it place. Don't force the screw! As long as it's secure, it's sufficient.
  7. Recording Returns! Installed my AIO Cooler (Corsair H100X).
    1. It has this weird earing mounting thing that hooks onto the existing bracket on the board.
    2. Make sure the logo/face of the AIO is oriented accordingly!
  8. Installed the radiator mount back into the case.
  9. Prepared my Fully Modular PSU - Again, RTFM - Read The Flippin' Manual!
    1. Installed the needed Cables.
    2. This where I should've installed my cable extensions, if I had any.
  10. Installed the PSU onto the case.
  11. Make sure to orient it correct! Mine was with the fan blowing to the bottom of the case.
  12. Took out the Hard Disk Drive Cage & screwed the HDD into the cage.
  13. In hindsight, should've done this first before the PSU as the cables got in my way.
  14. Your case may vary! Check your manual.
  15. CABLES TIME! Checked the orientation of where each cable would go from the back of the case and to the front.
  16. Again, read the manual!
  17. A good thing about my case (NZXT H510) is that the Front Panel connector comes in a handy single-piece bundle that makes it easy to connect.
  18. Connected all the MoBo cables. Always check the orientation! Look at the empty keys slot, any square face indents, clips, etc. Be careful!
  19. Installed my GPU (ASUS TUF RX 5700 XT) - it is a hefty boi.
  20. The GPU I chose has a 6pin+8pin PCIe Cable bit which confused me for a bit.
  21. I should've - READ THE MANUAL!
  22. Double Checked everything is securely installed
  23. Plugged into Power & Switch the PSU to On
  24. GPU LED turned on.
  25. No weird noises - thankfully!

// D002 - NO POST! & Troubleshooting - with the help from one of my viewers. //
NO POST! - Which sank my heart instantly.
Shoutout to one of my viewers, haxnetTech, who told me to look at the LED on the MoBo next to the RAM, which highlighted "DRAM" and basically guide me through the troubleshoot.
Because I had 4 sticks of RAM installed. The issue could've been a lot of things : RAM sticks might not have been seated securely, a faulty RAM stick or multiple of them, OR faulty Motherboard.
So troubleshooting began as follows:
  1. Removed all 4 RAM sticks.
  2. Reseat all 4 RAM. NO POST.
  3. Removed all 4 RAM again.
    1. Separated each pair based on their serial numbers - CentreCom pair and the Amazon pair.
  4. Installed the CentreCom pair in the A2 & B2. YAY! POST!
  5. Installed the Amazon pair in the A1 & B1. NO POST!
  6. Removed all the RAM and placed the Amazon pair in A2 & B2. NO POST!
  7. I did test each RAM individually in A2 and found only ONE of the Amazon pair was faulty.
    1. Because I wanted to return it, obviously I returned it as a pair.
  8. Removed the Amazon Pair and reinstalled the CentreCom pair. YAY! POST!
  9. Proceeded to install my Windows.
    1. Made sure to install the OS in the NVME SSD, NOT the HDD.
  10. After 7 hours live-stream, thanked my stream.
  11. Ate a Chicken Kebab.
My initial plan was to have 32GB Memory (4x 8GB) and having to return a pair, I ended up running off 16GB for a while.
I did have a concern that maybe I had issues with my A1 & B1 RAM slots on my MoBo, so I ended up ordering another pair 32GB Memory (2x 16GB) to fill out my remaining slot and test it out. Worst case, I'll just run off the A2 & B2 with the 2x 16GB pair.
MEMORY : Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2X16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 1.35V Desktop Memory BlackCOST : AUD$222.00 + $15.80 Delivery - from SKYCOMP. The only Australian store that had stock.DELIVERY : Ordered - 08.09.2020. Arrived - 14.09.2020. 6 days.
RAM arrived, installed the 2x 16GB memory in A2 & B2. Installed the CentreCom 2x 8GB pair in A1 & B1. TADAA! I am officially running at 48GB Memory.

// E001 - Post-Build & General Lessons Learnt //
I spent most of the time after my live-stream tidying the cables at the back of the PC and setting up my usual software & games.
Tweezered Zip-tied all the loose cables as neatly as I could.
I did try and do some basic overclocking with some guides on YouTube and Guru3D recommendations BUT I don't think I will include it in here as I am not that well-versed on the topic.

So here are some lessons I learnt from my build, aside from some of the tips I mentioned in the previous Chapters:

// E002 - Next Upgrades Selection & Wishlist //
PC Building is an addiction, you'll immediately look at things that to upgrade your perfectly functioning setup. I am officially one of them.
I even made a schedule of my wishlist and store prices - in hopes that if there was ever I sale and huge price drop (in Australian Dollars AUD$) :

PARTS PCCG SCORPTEC CENTRECOM PCBYTE SKYCOMP MWAVE PLE
SSD STORAGE: Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 1 TB 329 319 299 299 296 329

OR ViewSonic VX3258-2KPC-MHD 499 499 499 508 499 499
With my type of work, high memory GPUs are great but a 3090 is ridiculously expensive of an expense - so a 3080 would be nice step up. I am happy enough with my current GPU to wait for next generation, maybe a 3080 Super or a 6000 Series ST model.
Reason why I included the monitors is because the current monitor setup provided by Work is a decent 1440 60hz monitor that's been colour calibrated. Great for work, not so much for gaming.
After my build, I won't be buying upgrades anytime soon. But hey, you can't have a dream without a goal.

2020.09.24 03:53 kittyaphrodite Guide to Dressing Romantics

Hey guys- I just wrote this post on vindicta but I thought it would also be helpful to post here- with the caveat that it is just my thoughts and experiences!
hey guys! This took a while of thinking to get done but I hope it helps!
The first step to being able to effectively style yourself is to find out your kibbe type. Here is a link to the test I took- https://theconceptwardrobe.com/kibbe-body-types/the-kibbe-body-type-test. I think its all the better the less preconceived notions you have about kibbe as your opinion could become clouded and you could suffer type resistance- as in, you want to be one body type but you really are another. I think the kibbe system is great because its not based in making you feel like shit about yourself. Every single type has universally-considered gorgeous and beautiful women. It is also about being honest to yourself. I am about 5’0- I will NEVER be a tall supermodel. It’s just not happening. And that’s fine! Look at the women you are in the category with and see how beautiful they are. That being said, I am considered a romantic and that’s what this guide will be tailored toward. Here is the full outline of kibbes romantic section in his book Metamorphosis- https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/seasonalcolokibbe-s-romantic-t1990.html. By the way, for whatever result you get on the kibbe test, if you google “tapatalk (your kibbe type)” you should find your own chapter results.
I feel I finally have a style and idea of how things work for my body which is petite and curvy. I think it does feel like a niche as curvy doesn’t necessarily mean a larger size, I am a size 6. I prefer to include real recommendations into my posts cause I feel it takes a lot of legwork out and is more helpful that way. I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving recs to people with different body types and have you buy something garbage!
also, as apart of this pre-styling guide- learn your color season. I don’t have any great links but here on the subreddit are many great posts that can point you in the right direction. Of course, is it law to not wear purple as a warm spring? No, of course not. However, it can help point you in the right direction in clothes you might be interested in buying and trying to pick the best colors for you. Finally, kibbe, color systems, and my suggestions aren’t law or things you have to do or else. Everyones different! Still, this stuff takes forever to learn and a lot of time and money to figure out and I think it helped me a ton and i hope it does for other people.
Guiding principles of Kibbe for Romantics (ripped from his book, you dont need to follow everything but i think it gives you a general idea of what to look for)
SHAPE: Shape is the key to your look! Whatever mood you want to express, in whatever situation your find yourself--work, play, or glamour--keep your shapes rounded with soft edges! Circles, ornate swirls, and intricate flowing shapes are the direct expression of your extreme Yin. Soft bouffants are also acceptable. Always maintain the hourglass figure!
Avoid: All straight lines. All sharp edges. All geometrics.
LINE AND SILHOUETTE Second only to shape in importance, your outline should always be soft and flowing silhouettes that showcase the lush curves of your body. Waste definition is essential, always, as is lots of gentle draping everywhere.
Avoid: All severe silhouettes. All tailored silhouettes. All straight lines with angular edges. All vertical lines that hid the waist. All unconstructed, boxy, or horizontal lines.
FABRIC: Lightweight fabrics that drape easily. Softly woven fabrics (challis, crepe, tropical-weight woolens, jersey). Ultrashiny fabrics (charmeuse, shantung, crepe de chine, metallics). Ultra soft of plush textures (suedes, velvets, boucle knits, angora). Sheer fabrics (chiffon, voile, batiste, handkerchief linen).
AVOID: Stiff fabrics. Heavyweight fabrics. Rough textures. Extreme matte-finished fabrics.
DETAIL Detail should be soft, intricate, ornate and feminine, with emphasis on framing your face. Oversized bows, flouncy ruffles, and delicate lace are always good choices as long as they are luscious and womanly, instead of "little-girlish." Necklines should be soft and draped with curved edges (ornate necklines are especially sophisticated). Shoulders should be curved, with round pads; shoulder tucks or gathers, leg o' mutton, and draped dolman styles are all appropriate. Sleeves should be tapered at the wrist with intricate buttons, or very soft and flowing. Any kind of sparkle is excellent (pearls, sequins, beading, etc.) The waistline should always be emphasized, with soft gathers, folds, draped sashes, and lightweight and supple belts to give a cinched effect. Belt buckles should always be intricate and feminine.
Avoid: All tailored, angular, or severe detail. All chunky, rough, or oversized detail. All geometric necklines. All sharp edges--pleats, square shoulder pads. All crisp detail--perky bows, tiny ruffles. All minimal or "no detail" looks.
Skirts: Should be kept full and flowing with soft gathers at the waist and uneven hemlines. Your version of the basic "straight skirt" is actually tulip shaped: full and gathered at the waist and tapered at the hemline, which is short. All flared styles are excellent, from trumpets and swings to any bias-cut or gored style. Lengths should be kept gracefully long on uneven hemlines (mid calf), and short on the tapered styles with an even hemline (mid kneecap).
Avoid: All straight and tailored skirts, A-lines, and pleats.
Pants: Should always be soft, draped, and showcase your luscious curves! Gathers at the waist and a tapered or pegged bottom are the best shape for you.
Avoid: Straight or tailored pants. sharp details (pleats, cuffs, pockets). Baggy, unconstructed styles.
Blouses: Soft, draped styles. Sophisticated flounces and fills. Any antique styles.
Avoid: All tailored styles.
Sweaters: Soft, fluffy knits. Clingy, draped knits. Plush knits. Short lengths with waist detail. Cowl necks.
Avoid: Skinny, ribbed knits. Thick, nubby knits. Oversized sweaters. Turtlenecks and long pullovers. Cardigans. Crew-necked shetlands.
DRESSES: Should always be feminine and flowing. Waist emphasis, ornate detail, and swirling or flouncey skirts.
Avoid: Stiff, structured, or tailored styles (coatdress, chemise, etc.). Straight styles with no waist. Shapeless, wide, or baggy dresses.
Basics Before Dressing
As youll be able to see- I do not follow every single rule he makes, and sometimes like things he says to avoid. These rules arent law but they should make you look twice at what you wear and if it works for you and how to make it work for you and your style. I break these rules plenty- just as long as I am maintaining the structure by waist emphasis and clothes choice (high waisted bottoms).
While you don’t have to follow the materials list directly, just try to pay attention to what the clothes are made of and prioritize non-polyester clothes. Don’t buy clothes that don’t suit you or don’t fit you in the hope that it one day magically will or that you will lose the weight. If you are losing weight rapidly, then wait a little before buying expensive new clothes and wait until you get to a more stable weight for you. The key factor is always, always, always waist emphasis! In every outfit strive to have waist definition be the key component.
Shapewear- a must
Shapewear is so crucial to a the more structured hourglass look. While you should be working out, there will always be lumps and bumps that you would like to be slimmed or rounded. Shapewear will do that for you. That snatched look you see on red carpets and celebrities is a large part due to shapewear- as many admit in interviews. Shapewear has the ability to make your outfits overall look more expensive and just better on you. Now, I bought skims full price and the quality sucks- my mid thigh shorts literally ripped on a date so that was great. Honestly, I would go for spanx. I thought they were so expensive for some reason. Because Spanx is kinda the OG of shapewear brands that we think of, they have such a large library that their sale section is pretty robust so you can pretty much get a lot of pieces like high waisted panties for 10 dollars or full body-thigh suits for $40 dollars. And ive never experienced ripping like I did with Skims. Sign up for the Spanx newsletter and youll get updates on deals every couple of weeks, including free shipping.
A really easy way to get into shapewear is buying the Spanx high waisted underwear. I would highly recommend in investing in shapewear panties/boyshorts. Its not much different than other types of underwear, smooths/diminishes on lower belly fat which most women have, and I got 3 for ten dollars each. I like the “everyday shaping” ones the best since they don’t look like shapewear necessarily and are pretty comfortable to wear around. I get black in all of these since it goes with my lingerie since im garbage at matching colors so I just get it all in black. Panties and boyshorts in shapewear can be worn with pretty much every outfit (so long as youre covered on your lower stomach. For tight dresses and skirts- you probably would want to get shapewear that would smooth your thighs and butt- as Ive noticed in a newer pencil skirt I bought, just the boyshorts aint cutting it. It just looks a little lumpy without. I would highly recommend just buying sale spanx at their website- and in general try to look for styles that are still sold for full price on other parts of the site or are part of a collection, one off items aren’t as good. (ie, “retro panties” are not as good as the “everyday shaping line, boyshorts”). Find the areas where you need it too- a full body suit is expensive and you probably don’t need it- if your thighs aren’t perfectly shaped, or you have some belly fat, buy shapewear to help those areas. Shoot for a level 2/3 for max effectiveness.
General Principles
Now for the main event. You need to learn your measurements. Buy a simple measuring tape and do a full set of measurements for your body. Weight hangs so differently on us as we aren’t bone thin, so just generically buying a “small, medium, or large” just wont cut it unless you want to waste money. I have a pretty unpopular opinion- I think you have to pay more for clothes with this body type than others. Fast fashion is pretty much wasted money for us unless youre buying cheap camis and tops, even then, exercise caution. Its just not made for us. It costs a lot more money to cut clothes for curves than a pretty uniform straight shape. For this reason, I would recommend looking into vintage-reproduction clothes. Romantic body types haven’t been “in” since about the 1950s as the predominant style. While the hourglass type has always been in style, clothes that suit the romantic have not necessarily been. Tall, thin, angular are more trendy- and traditionally romantic clothes are made for non-romantic body types (polly). Therefore, I find that vintage reproduction clothes just look better on my body- wiggle dresses, cigarette pants, those are the things that look the best on me. I don’t want to look kitchy or like im wearing a costume- these cuts just look the best. The brands I pretty much only shop from now are Vixen by Micheline Pitt, La Femme en Noir (her goth brand), and I peruse other sites like Pinup girl and Stop Staring!. I use mostly micheline pitt because I feel her clothes are more “safe” for me to buy and fit my general style.
HIT UP POSHMARK for these clothes! Legit! I love buying secondhand clothes since I feel its more environmentally conscious and I love a sale. I usually look up “pin up couture,” “stop staring,” “micheline pitt,” and “la femme en noir” maybe twice a week to see if theres any good sales going on for pieces on my wishlist. Always make an offer! You might as well anyway and ive gotten bomb deals by going maybe 20% lower than the asking price on a piece.
Style
Style is kind of the most important piece here because you want to bring the principles of Kibbe into your style and pieces you love. If you love tanks with shorts, transition into more high waisted shorts (with belt?) and add a crop top or tuck a form fitting tank into the shorts. I used to be scene so I have a soft spot for that alt goth look still. I like to use Micheline Pitt for more basics (black crop with black capris with belt is life) whereas La Femme is used more for more gothy alt vibes without bordering on cartoony or cheap looking. La femme is pretty intensely boob-centric- just keep in mind (im about a 36d) if that’s something that makes you uncomfortable. Also, some of the styles in LFEN have a long vertical line with not a lot of waist emphasis is probably not for us (art deco collection for instance). I think it plays to romantic ideals great though- lace and little feminine detail is recommended for us. Just as a side recommendation, wait for sale! Legit, Micheline has sales like every other month so I just wait for that since some of the pieces get pricy. Keep in mind though the quality is always consistent and the sizing is consistent throughout the line which is great- as long as you have your measurements on hand you will have a good fit.
Jeans/ Pants/ Skirts/ Shorts
Jeans are tricky for curvieslim thick/romantics. You are pretty much in a struggle between shape and longevity (cotton) vs stretch. When you get 100% cotton jeans like a Levis 501, youre getting shape and a very long shelf life- but it isn’t really for curvy girls. Im a size 6 pretty much across the board in Levis EXCEPT for the 501s. In them, I literally go up to a size 12. TWELVE! Needless to say, I didn’t buy them. On the other hand, stretch is good to have BUT it makes the fabric last a lot less and I have destroyed so many American Eagle jeans with my thighs before I got into Levis wherein of maybe 25-30 pairs, only two have ripped in the thigh for me (I think 720s if you care, of course highest amount of stretch to cotton ratio). The golden ratio for me is about 90% cotton, 10% stretch. It gives enough construction and shape and longevity to a pair of jeans while still being comfortable and having that give. That’s a ratio that fits my fave pair of jeans, the Levis Wedgie Skinny fit which, if you can find in a non-plus size, you should at least try on. The wedgie fit is meant to look similar to a more vintage fit but it also shapes your butt and tapers off at a short length. The more common pair online is the plain Wedgie fit, which is like 98% stretch which isn’t my ideal but I do have a few. They just need to be broken in a little and follow the size chart. Wherever you buy jeans you should probably go in person if possible just to see how the stores standard jeans fit and how you like them. The golden ratio for us when it comes to jeans is, for me, high waisted + room in butt and thigh + tapered/skinny ankle. A bonus would be a lower stretch amount 15% and under I would recommend.
When it comes to regular work pants, I use Micheline Pitts cigarette pants and her capris. The fit is really good and theyre pretty flattering with the high waist emphasis and cut. And her capris! I thought all capris would make me look like a middle aged mom- hers are incredible. They give a super flattering cut and make your waist look tiny and ass look all round. I would avoid palazzo and wide cut pants- they just make me look fat. Same thing with shorts- I have Michelines and the Levis Wedgie fit shorts which have a high waist and cut off mid thigh and I think theyre pretty great, especially paired with a tight belt around the waist. Kibbe doesn’t recommend pencil skirts but I think theyre pretty hot with a long sleeve top and belt (with shapewear!). I wouldn’t necessarily recommend mini-skirts (which I love) because I personally haven’t found any that aren’t waaaaaaaay too short for me with my smaller waist and larger butt and thighs.
Tops
Crop tops are ideal for your body if you can pull them off with a high waisted short or pant. Tucking longer shirts into your pants and adding a belt to cinch the waist is a simple but effective romantic outfit. I prefer a longer sleeve, ¾ lengths looks great on romantics as well as a slightly longer short sleeve than you would see typically in fast fashion. It is recommended in kibbe to avoid oversized tops, despite how cute and comfy they are. It does make you look bigger. Lace detailing is great, corseted details, just some very femme tops look great as well
Dresses
I love a wiggle dress on a curvy girl. I think theyre so sexy and make you just look so classy but have that wow factor. I think they are hands down the best dresses for romantics. They have that built in shape that compliments our curves so nicely, and mixed with a belt and shapewear just create this beautiful look. An A-line fit and flare dress also looks nice but is a bit more “cute” than sexy.
Notes I'm sure I missed out on a lot of good points but I feel this is a great starting point for helping romantics. Ill post my fave pieces below- thanks!

Expect weekend lag report. "Daily case counts reflect newly reported cases and may represent cases that were tested in the preceding days, which could significantly impact the count on days when a relatively large number of laboratory reports arrive in one day." SNHD confirmed they are not counting COVID-19 antibody positives into their COVID-19 positive case counts.
Majority of information is pulled from Southern Nevada Health District's COVID-19 dashboard and historical reports.
Our positives have slowed down, our recovery rate continues to rise (85+% range), but our hospitalizations are increasing. Protect our vulnerable and continue to practice good hygiene habits, including wearing a mask to prevent asymptomatic spread as mandated by Governor Sisolak (onus is on businesses, which we want to keep open, but Metro will not enforce it; OSHA is responsible for mask enforcement by fining the business). To report a non-compliant business through the state, call (702) 486-9020 or (775) 688-3700.
Doctors are doing convalescent plasma therapy treatments and are seeking plasma donors to help those in need. One plasma donation can help five patients. Blood donors can get the antibodies testing done for free.
FDA states 144 trials of therapeutics are underway to treat COVID-19. 457 more are in planning stages. None have been approved. Remdesivir and Dexamethaaone are FDA approved for emergency base use.
Nevada was approved for the 24-hour test procedure. FDA has approved a 30-minute and a 5-minute testing procedures. UNLV provides the main COVID-19 testing services. The first at-home testing kit was FDA approved on 5/15.
Testing sites require an appointment; some may need to be scheduled by your primary care physician or another authorized provider.
City Serve coordinates testing sites throughout the valley. Testing is only on Saturdays. Schedule a no-cost test here: https://cityservelv.org/
The antibodies test was approved by the FDA a month ago. UMC, E7 Health and local laboratories are able to conduct antibodies testing. Cost is normally $149+, but your insurance may reimburse you for the test. Check your coverage first. Vitalant/Universal Blood Services will do a free antibody test for any eligible donors.
UMC is able to process 4,000 tests per day. It is encouraged for anyone to be tested. Symptoms are no longer required. Appointment is required.
UMC's testing sites are inside Thomas & Mack Center and Cashman Field Center. They can do 1,200 tests per day, Tues-Sat 8am to 4pm. No symptoms, insurance, or citizenship required for testing. Must schedule an appointment online through UMC's website (www.umcsn.com). A staff member will contact you back to schedule your appointment. According to their reps, there is no limit how often you can get tested. Sites are walk-in, appointment or walk-up. Both sites now use the self-nasal swab test kits.
UMC updates COVID-19 test guidelines:
New guidelines are to save test kits for those exhibiting symptoms.
Expanded drive-thru testing:
See all testing locations on the SNHD website.
All CVS pharmacy drive-thru locations also do testing, no cost should be associated with this test. Validate with your insurance. If no insurance, there should be no charge.
Four months ago, the first vaccine was tested. More than 160 vaccine prototypes are being tested. Clinical trials of the vaccine were administered three months ago. Phase 1 & 2 of trial vaccines have completed with positive antibody results. Phase 3 clinical trials started with 30k volunteers; large test size of 3k vaccine test trials in the UK. Africa started their vaccine trials two months ago. Multiple sources stating to expect an FDA approved vaccine by end of the year.
Of the 100+ vaccines submitted, 22 have made the cut to go through testing and final FDA approval phases (5/15 briefing). The front runner vaccine is conducting human trails (Phase 3 aka final stage), completion date in September. AstraZeneca is prepared to produce 2 billion doses once the vaccine is FDA approved.
Government is working with four vaccine manufacturers who are in the final phases of vaccine trials, all prepared for massive vaccine output once FDA approval is given (7/31). Two of the four have in the final review phases with FDA (8/14).
Phase 3 vaccine trials for Vegas has started. Volunteers can call 702-893-8968. Must be 18+. Administered by the Wake Clinical Research Center of Nevada. Source.
Remain mindful to give our medical community the ability to focus on those in need of their expertise to survive and combat the virus.

2020.09.23 15:43 Darkchurchhill I am 24 years old make $90,000, live in Boston, Massachusetts and work as a full stacks developer

*mental health, drugs, body image and food discussed\*
Background: Hi, I am 24 years old and make $90,000, live in the Boston area (Cambridge/Somerville). I work as a full stacks developer and have a BS in computer science. Currently, I live with two housemates in a cute townhome apartment in a nice walkable neighborhood with lots of parks, restaurants, and amenities. I originally moved here from LA on a whim late last September despite not knowing anyone or having a place to call home. I was living with my parents after university and working in a job environment I hated. I was really depressed and overspent on clothes, beauty products, and going out like crazy to cope. Moving to Boston allowed me to feel in control of my life, and as of today, it’s been officially a year, which is crazy. I decided to put one up today to celebrate. I’ve always wanted to do a money diary, but was ashamed to do so when I felt like a mess.
Section One: Assets and Debt
Section Two: Income
Section Three: Expenses
Wednesday 16th
7:00am: The sun wakes me. I was hoping to sleep in more since I redownloaded tinder last night and stayed up till like 3am swiping and contemplating if this was the wrong decision for my mental and physical health. One of my matches messaged me to come over. I haven’t gotten laid since before the pandemic lockdown started. The sexual frustration has been real. I entertain the thought, but don’t reply back.
11:30am: On a zoom meeting with my boss, she asks us if we would like to start coming back twice a week to meet in person in October. I feel unsure about this, as I am still sketched out by public transit, but everything is still up in the air.
12:30pm: I eat leftover fried rice for lunch I made. I say fried rice but it mostly consists of vegetables. I still feel hungry afterwards, but I guess if I was going to be dating again I should lose some more weight so I can feel hot on my virtual zoom calls or wherever people do nowadays.
4:00pm: The work day is over early today. I hit up the guy on tinder who wanted to hook up. We make arrangements for him to slide through later this evening. He offers to come over to my place instead because he had something to do in Cambridge first anyways, and offers to bring drinks. We exchanged instagrams. I’m a little sussed out because he looks like the type who is really into themselves (like really into archival fashion RickOwens/Celine/YSL and has tons of edgy selfies). Whatever it’s just sex. I tell him it’s fine and that I have both wine and weed, and he sends me a little devil emoji.
5:00pm: I take the time to clean my room and make myself look presentable before planting myself onto the couch. I actually have no idea when he’s going to come, but I don’t want to message him again because if he doesn’t come through I want the satisfaction of him thinking I couldn’t care less. It’s toxic, I know, but in my lifetime I’ve been treated so badly by people I’ve given my heart to that sometimes I feel like my pride is the only thing I have left. Anyways, I wait by listening to female dating empowerment podcasts, hoping that some of the hosts’ confidence would rub off onto me.
7:00pm: I open a bottle of wine in anticipation and pour myself a glass.
10:00pm: No word from him, I guess I got stood up. Wow, only one day in and I’m already getting the full tinder experience. No surprises here though. I'm an adult. I can handle disappointment. I’m just really drunk now and alone.
11:00pm: Moody vinyls are now being played. I’m on the phone with friends, and three-fourths of my bottle of wine is gone. I check instagram only to see that the little weasel has unfollowed me so naturally I unfollowed him. I open tinder to unmatch him, but as I am doing so, his profile disappears. The prick beat me to it, and the petty side of me is annoyed. I think I’m just going to pass out. Honestly, I don’t hate this. The side of me who hates courting people has now overtaken my sex drive (the way it should be), and all forces are back to equilibrium. I’m only upset at how good of a job I did making myself look hot when there is no one here to appreciate it. The wine puts a spell on me, and I fall asleep to the muffled voice of my housemate calling his long distance girlfriend from the floor above me.
Total spent-$0
Thursday 17th
5:00am: I wake up and feel lots of shame. I swipe a bit, but there is no one I’m attracted to. It shouldn’t be this hard to get laid. I delete tinder from my phone. Ooof I’m glad my moment of weakness was short lived this time. I’m sorry y’all has to lay witness this to this dumpster fire.
7:00am: I check my emails. Three days ago, I applied for a new credit card with Chase and my application still hasn’t been approved. Weird, I have a good credit score and last year when I applied for my american express it took like a day. I am planning on spending $500 on a new synth (I am currently lusting over the Megafm by twisted electronics), and this card has a $200 cash back for the first $500 spent in the first 3 months. I google how long this process will take. Some say it takes about a week. I can wait. Guess you guys won’t be around to share my joy of blowing all my monies on synths.
11:30am: It’s avocado toast time. I need the carbs to combat the grogginess the wine left me feeling. It doesn’t taste great because I’m pretty sure my avocados are overripe, but oh well.
12:00pm: I check my credit card statement. My mom has made a $170 grocery store order with my credit card. I get 6% cash back on groceries and she wants to help me with getting cash back. The last time I saw her she gave me a few hundred dollars in cash to cover this. I don’t mind because I needed cash to buy merch at shows and stuff, and my bank doesn’t have any branches or atms in the Boston area. It’s kind of inconvenient now because everywhere has gone cashless, but I’m sure it’ll come into use when life resumes again or if I buy something off FB marketplace. $170
5:30pm: I make more fried rice and eat dinner. I make enough for lunch tomorrow as well.
8:23pm: I watch the The Real Story of Paris Hilton, her new documentary on youtube. The main opening song is Jesus and Mary Chain's Just like Honey. I remember how much I love this song and how much I would like to actually own it. I hop onto discog and search for a copy of the LP Psychocandy and buy it. I use leftover paypal credit in my account from when I sold some clothes on depop to cover the cost. $25.19.
10:00pm: Wow, the documentary was actually pretty sad. I always felt bad for Paris because of her leaked sex tapes when she was just a teen (and how the media painted her as the villain/slut for it), but was shocked to learn how she and countless other girls was drugged and abused by their boarding schools.
2:00am: I finish catching up on work and go to bed.
Total spent-$195.19
Friday
10:00am: Shoot I overslept. I log into work asap. I missed my daily 9:00am morning stand up, but my boss is usually pretty relaxed about these things. I still feel bad about it.
12:00pm: Eat fried rice for lunch. My friend messages me if I wanted to go record shopping with him. To be honest, I’ve been avoiding unnecessary in person retail shopping and don’t want to spend anymore money on records this month, but I also know he takes rejection super personally. He's insecure and always in his head that everyone actually dislikes him. It’s probably a little true because he does act like a brat sometimes, but I think it's due to severe depression. I tell him I’ll be down and justify the outing due to the record shop being near an asian grocer I like. I need groceries anyways and haven’t been to this store since pre pandemic.
4:30pm: I log out of work. Finally, the weekend.
5:00pm I take an edible and get ready to leave my home.
6:20pm I take the T to Central and pay with my pre loaded transit card. Back in March, I loaded $20 onto it and now I’m down to $4.80. I guess I have to reload it soon again. My friend informs me he’ll be late. I’m starting to feel high so I walk around and look at all the restaurants doing outdoor dining. My favorite place in Central is only doing takeout.
7:00pm: My friend arrives. We go to the record shop. I’m really high at this point. The tight aisles of the record shop makes me nervous.
7:30pm: My friend makes some big purchases, but I leave empty handed. We head over to the Hmart across the street. It’s nice to buy asian groceries. I stock up on veggies, enoki mushrooms, frozen gyoza, tofu, and even let myself get a few snacks. $68
8:00pm: One of my friends just messages me that Ruth Bader Ginsburg just passed. Truly devastating to hear. What a crazy election year.
8:30pm: I’m home and have the munchies. I snack on some of the things I bought, but it doesn’t fill my cravings.
9:45pm: I decide that I am ordering Mickey Ds. I call my housemate downstairs and ask him if he wants anything. He laughs and says no, causing me to doubt my order. However, he encourages me to order anyways, as he wants to mooch off some of my fries. I order fries and a mcChicken, and he sticks around downstairs like a seagull. $11
10:15pm: My food arrives. I know I will regret this tomorrow.
Total spent-$79
Saturday
8:00am: I regret ordering food last night. One of my friends once said to me “There is nothing you can eat that can make you feel as good as being skinny”. I’m not sure if I can agree with him, but it’s definitely true when it comes to fast food. My stomach hurts so bad. I distract myself by watching youtube in bed.
11:00am: I finally get up and call my mom. She informs me that one of my dad’s colleges passed from Covid-19 at age 40. That is so sad. It reminds me that getting laid can wait till next year. Rip my non existing sex life-- too soon for death jokes?
1:00pm: I work out in my living room (out of guilt for last night). I’ve been doing so well eating wise for the last few weeks and actually lost some of my quarantine weight. My only vice is that I love getting high, but I have no control when it comes to having the munchies.
2:00pm: The weather is starting to change, and it’s actually getting cold. It’s so strange. As a Calfornian, this time of year is usually the hottest. I pulled out a jacket I haven’t worn in a while. I find five dollars, a purple glittery gel pen, and an almost brand new pack of cigs in the pockets. What a score. I’m a seasonal social smoker, by that I mean that I only smoke when it gets cold and usually to meet new people in smoking pits at shows so I haven't touched a cig in months. To celebrate my finds and the changing of the seasons, I smoke one and it suppresses my post workout hunger.
4:00pm: I’m just watching tiktok on the couch, while snacking a little. I feel so guilty for being unproductive, but not enough to motivate myself to do something.
5:00pm: I move my ac unit from my room to the basement. Won’t be needing that for the rest of the year.
7:00pm: I make gyoza and hang out with my housemate playing video games (the newish Catherine reboot).
Total spent-$0
Sunday
4:45am: I fell asleep on the couch last night. I drag myself to the bathroom to take out contacts and brush my teeth. I close my window, climb into my bed, and go back asleep. It’s so cold.
11:40am: I wake up and check my messages. My other housemate is finally coming home after staying with his new girlfriend at her place for the last two months. He asks us what we want from Blue Ribbon, a bbq place we always get takeout from together. The house votes on one and a half chicken, a pint of burnt ends, slab of ribs, a quart of brisket, and a side of coleslaw. We split the cost three ways. $34
2:05pm: My housemate still hasn’t come home with food, but I’m hella hungry. Apparently he ordered from the wrong location and now has to go to another to pick up the food.
2:30pm: We eat bbq and then cake. My housemate accidentally missed my other housemate’s birthday, while he was gone living with his girlfriend so he brought makeup dessert.
3:30pm: We play video games (Smash ultimate) together for a few hours.
6:00pm: Everyone retires to their room except me. I sit on the couch and waste time on tictok. It sucks to be the only person in the house without a partner to call. I like being independent and openly acknowledge that I’m emotionally unavailable, but these last few months have made me question what I really need.
8:00pm: I go back to my room to get some work done.
12:30am: I feel lonely. I fall asleep to a documentary about Candy Darling.
Total spent-$34
Monday
8:00am: Wake up. Check my emails. I ordered a skirt from a seller on Thrilling (vintage clothing site) 3 weeks ago and it still hasn’t been sent out. I’m unhappy about this. I messaged Thrilling last week and the customer service rep reached out to the seller, and the seller said they will have it out by Saturday, but USPS tracking begs to differ. The item is still in pre shipment.
10:00am: I snack on blueberries as I work.
4:30pm: I log out of work. I eat BBQ leftovers for dinner and half a cookie. I open my 3rd la croix of the day. I’m down to only having two 12 packs. Will probably have to restock next week. I have a la croix addiction and go through 3-4 a day.
5:00pm: My housemate’s girlfriend swings by with a package from an online purchase he made (the one that just came back yesterday). He goes out to the driveway to meet her and tries to convince her to come in. She refuses because she’s self conscious of her quarantine weight. Big sad for me. I have yet to meet her and I was kind of looking forward to it. I haven’t interacted with another woman irl for a really really long time, and I really miss all my girlfriends in California. My housemate tells me that she said she’ll be willing to meet us once she loses weight first. I take that as I’ll never meet her.
5:30pm: I play video games with housemates to get in my daily socialization fix.
7:00pm: I practice playing banjo.
9:30pm: I do some more work before bed. Today was a standard boring day.
Total spent- $0
Tuesday
8:30am: I’m pleased that day’s are getting shorter and the sun is no longer waking me up at 5am everyday. I sleep next to multiple windows and the glare of the sun loves to hit directly where my pillows and head lie. While dressing I put on a bodysuit that I love, but I haven’t worn since college and a pair of Tripp raver pants. I can’t believe that up until I moved to Boston, I used to dress like this. There is so much side boob. Boston has made me so much more conservative in the way I dress, and I cover up. I put on a tight cardigan and am impressed with myself. Earlier this spring, this cardigan did not look good on me. Seems like my diet is working even though I did fudge up this weekend.
12:00pm: I eat leftovers for lunch and read today’s money dairy. The writer is similar to my age, which peaks my interest (also the mention of bumble in the title). I feel lonely. I need to stop thinking about dating apps. I can’t wait until it is safe to pick up men and women under dark lighting and liquid courage again.
4:30pm: I log out of work, and begin editing my money diary entries. It’s pretty therapeutic and feels like I’m talking to a group of new friends. There are a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes. I’m dyslexic so please bear with me.
5:00pm: I stir fry leftover rice, some leftover bbq meat, egg, broccoli, baby bok choy, and edamame. Dinner is ready. One of my housemates comes downstairs and also makes dinner and eats.
5:30pm: We play smash bros for a bit. I’m surprised our other housemate doesn’t come downstairs to join us. It’s been so long since he’s lived with us I forgot he always randomly falls asleep at weird times.
6:30pm: We retire to our rooms. I practice playing the banjo for a bit, while I chat with a friend through text.
9:15pm: Just doing some more work.
12:00am: Can't sleep so I exercise.
TOTAL FOR THE WEEK - $308.19
Food + Drink $113
Fun / Entertainment $25.19
Other $170
Lastly, reflect on your diary! Spending wise, this is a pretty typical week for me post pandemic. Most days I don’t spend money, but once or twice a month I would drop quite a bit of money (usually $500-600) on hobby related things, like the synth I mentioned in this diary. My spending has dramatically increased during the quarantine because I need to find ways to entertain and stimulate myself. Pre-pandemic most of my discretionary spending was spent on day trips and going to shows, which is pretty cheap and added up to no more than $400 a month. I was hardly ever home and when I was it was to wind down so I invested way less into my hobbies. I also spent less on food. Since spending more time with my housemates, the idea of takeout has become more normalized for me (I used to eat out once or twice a month, now I get take out at least once a week).

The all-up Manjaro Gnome guide: From installation to system optimization to desktop tweaks
I've been using Manjaro for a couple of years now, and I love how responsive, stable and reliable it is. Over numerous installations across several machines (and collating best practices from many great online resources -- including Manjaro's excellent forums) this is my go-to checklist: from system installation to tweaked desktop. NOTE: Many of the choices of apps and tweaks here are my own personal choices -- you're likely to go with something completely different. But that's one of the beautiful things about Linux: choice!
So, here goes...
Create the boot disk/CD
  1. Download the relevant Manjaro Gnome ISO from here
  2. Verify file integrity:
    1. Linux: [sha1sum or sha256sum] [ISO Image]Eg. sha1sum ISO_NAMEORsha256sum ISO_NAME
    2. Windows: Download and use the MD5& SHA Checksum Utility
  3. Copy this to a thumb drive using the Rufus bootable thumb drive creator (in Windows) or Popsicle/balenaEtcher (Linux). Preferably select GPT/UEFI when creating the bootable thumb drive. Note: With Rufus, selecting the DD mode is more reliable than the file mode when creating the image.
  4. Selecting UEFI will boot into EFI mode, otherwise it will launch in MBBIOS mode. NOTE: To set up Manjaro in EFI mode (recommended, for almost every system built in the last decade,) make sure ‘Launch CSM’ and ‘Secure Boot’ is disabled in BIOS, otherwise it will launch in a Legacy mode that emulates BIOS. The mode the system is booted in will be the mode Manjaro Linux will be eventually installed in: UEFI or legacy BIOS.

Installing Manjaro

  1. Boot using the thumb drive created above. From the Live environment boot menu:
    1. Select free or non-free drivers. (Choose free for Intel, non-free for Radeon/Nvidia)
    2. Select system language/numbers and dates format (I use US English -- en_US.UTF-8 in the list of choices)
  2. After booting into the Live environment:
    1. When choosing automatic partitioning, remember to select the correct target drive! I generally choose Erase disk, Swap (with Hibernate).
    2. For manual partitioning, see this guide. Use Gparted, and delete all existing partitions on the target drive. Then choose New Partition Table, Select GUID (GPT), and click OK. To install Manjaro, you need i) A FAT 32 boot partition, ii) Swap space, iii) The Root file system, iv) Home partition (if not defined, it will be created as part of the Home partition). Set up the drive’s partitions as suggested below. TIP: If resizing partitions, do this first in Gparted and then launch the installation. Resizing drive partitions in Manjaro takes far longer.
Suggested drive partitioning for Manjaro installation
HINT: If you happen to have two drives in your system, configure the Swap partition on a different drive from the one your boot/root/home directory is on.
  1. Proceed as guided by the remainder of the Manjaro Installer.

Things to do after first install

System/Performance tweaks
  1. Start Pamac (Add/Remove software) and select the best server repository In Preferences, enable checking for updates and set this to every 24 hours. Enable AUR. Then update the system.
  2. Install Preload from Pamac, then run it using admin privileges (for faster application startup)
  3. Date and Time Set to Automatic
  4. Disable GRUB delay (Quicker system startup):
    1. sudo nano /etc/default/grub
    2. Change GRUB_TIMEOUT value to ‘0’
    3. Set GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE to ‘hidden’ (and not ‘menu’) for a silent, faster bootup
  5. Power management:
    1. TLP: Make sure TLP is installed and running with tlp-stat -s (check for ‘active’ status.) If not installed, do so from Pamac, installing tlp and tlp-rdw[Optional] Install the GUI for the app (tlpui from Pamac)
    2. Install Thermald
  6. Reduce Swappiness (sets the system to depend less on Swap):
    1. Swappiness value should ideally be 10. Check Swappiness value with: cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
    2. Create the config file sudo nano /etc/sysctl.d/100-manjaro.conf
    3. In the above file enter: vm.swappiness=10
    4. Save the file (CTRL+O), enter, and exit (CTRL+X)
    5. The feature takes effect on restart
  7. Check TRIM for SSD drives (for extending life): systemctl status fstrim.timerThe command should return a response indicating it is enabled by default. If not, enable by typing the command sudo systemctl enable fstrim.timer
  8. Run Gufw (Firewall) and enable
  9. [Optional] Disable Bluetooth service from loading at startup:
    1. To list enabled services: systemctl list-unit-files --type=service grep enabled
    2. To disable services from loading at boot:sudo systemctl disable bluetooth.service
    3. If you really want it dead, where other services can’t restart it:sudo systemctl mask bluetooth.service
    4. To stop the service: sudo systemctl stop bluetooth.service
    5. To verify that service is disabled: systemctl status bluetooth.service
  10. [Optional] Disable the Ethernet interface if it isn’t being used and is utilizing too much power. This is done by disabling kernel modules
  11. Run mkinitcpio -M to show all automatically detected modules
  12. Should look like ‘r8169’ for the Ethernet card
  13. Create a .conf file inside /etc/modprobe.d/ and append a line for each module you want to blacklist, using the blacklist keyword. Eg.
# Do not load the 'pcspkr' module on boot.
blacklist pcspkr
install module_name /bin/true
  1. Regenerate initramfs with sudo mkinitcpio -P, and reboot.
  2. To regain Ethernet access, repeat this process, commenting ‘#’ the lines added to the .conf file.
NOTE: The following section is entirely optional. At this point, you can straightaway jump into using your newly-installed Manjaro!

Desktop environment / app tweaks

The steps below reflect my personal desktop preferences (Manjaro Gnome). You may of course want to configure your desktop differently, based on your own preference:
  1. Launch Layouts and choose ‘Traditional’. Also make sure ‘Automatic Dark Theme’ is diabled.
  2. Settings:
    1. Keyboard shortcuts:
      1. Search for ‘Switch windows’ and add the shortcut ALT+TAB (replace existing)
      2. Scroll to the bottom and add
    2. Power:
      1. Bluetooth: ‘Off’
      2. Automatic Suspend: ‘On’
      3. Power button Action: ‘Power Off’
    3. Files history & Trash:
      1. Disable File history if needed
      2. Toggle on to automatically delete temp files and trash
    4. Keyboard and mouse:
      1. Search for Universal Access
      2. Search for Touchpad, disable Natural Scrolling
  3. Install Chrome:
    1. Start Pamac and search for Chrome in the AUR packages
    2. After installing, font size (of browser content) can be increased in Chrome Settings (Eg for a 1080p display. Set Page zoom to 110%, Font size: Medium). Set this in conjunction with ‘Scaling Factor’ in Gnome Tweaks Fonts.
    3. If not already picked up after logging into Google, change Chrome theme to Morpheon Dark.
    4. Disable tab hover cards by typing chrome://flags/#tab-hover-cards then selecting ‘Disable’.
    5. See this site on enabling hardware rendering in Chrome:
      1. Go to chrome://settings and expand Advanced at the bottom
      2. Scroll to the bottom, locate and make sure the Use hardware acceleration when available option is enabled.
      3. Type chrome://gpu. Most entries should have the words ‘Hardware accelerated’.
      4. To force hardware acceleration for even more features, open chrome://flags
      5. Locate the section on that page called Override software rendering list and change ‘Disabled’ to ‘Enabled’.
      6. When you now check chrome://gpu, more settings should be Hardware Acceleration enabled.
  4. I love my desktop clean! Right-click desktop Settings uncheck toggles for desktop icons
  5. Right-click Panel (Dash to Panel settings):
    1. Position Stack ‘Date menu’ lower down, until it shows up to the extreme right
    2. Style Panel size: 32, App icon margin and padding (choose what looks best)
    3. Style Scroll to bottom, Override panel theme background opacity, set Panel background opacity to 85% (or whatever looks best with the selected wallpaper)
    4. Fine-tune
      1. Tray font size: 0 (theme default)
      2. Status icon padding: -1 (theme default)
    5. Extensions Disable Arc Menu
  6. Gnome Tweaks
    1. General Over-Amplification (as needed)
    2. Fonts
      1. Scaling factor: 1.2 (works well for my 1080p laptop display. Play around and see what works best for you. This changes fonts system-wide: UI as well as web page text) OR change the font sizes of Interface, Document, Monospace etc.
      2. Antialiasing Subpixel (for LCD screens)
    3. Top bar
      1. Enable Battery percentage
      2. Clock: Enable Weekday, Date, Seconds
    4. Windows Titlebars Enable Maximize and Minimize
    5. Appearance Applications: Adwaita-maia-dark, Cursor: Xcursor-breeze, Icons: Papirus-Dark-Maia, Shell: Adwaita-maia-darkNote: Installing other themes sometimes mess with the appearance of other apps (eg. Kdenlive not rendering the dark theme correctly.)
  7. install Gnome extensions from https://extensions.gnome.org (requires a browser plugin for control). I like keeping it simple -- my preferred extensions are:
    1. Sound Input & Output Device Chooser
    2. Clock Override: Configure the Add-on, and enter the following text for preferred date and time:%A, %d %b '%y ~ %l:%M:%S %p
    3. Dim On Battery Power: Set screen brightness for battery (~50) and plugged in (~100)
    4. Remove Accessibility (Removes the accessibility button from the panel, if present)

Install key software

Remember to enable the Arch User Repository (AUR) in Pamac Preferences.
  1. Mark each the following in Pamac before installing in one go.
    1. gThumb Image Viewer, a quick image file viewer
    2. Timeshift (for system snapshots, not user data backups). Settings RSYNC, Schedule 2 snapshots weekly, exclude user home directory, select date format. See this tutorial.
    3. Popsicle (for formatting and writing images to USB thumb drives)
    4. MS fonts: Install ttf-ms-fonts in Pamac
    5. KeePassXC (password manager), from main repository
    6. uGet (Download manager)
    7. VeraCrypt (Encryption tool)
    8. qBitTorrent (Torrent client)
    9. Gimp (image editing)
    10. Kdenlive: Video editor. Settings Color Theme to ‘KvBlender’. (See Getting started)
  2. Tor Browser: (Detailed instructions)
    1. Download the Linux package from the Tor website
    2. Extract the files
    3. To install Tor so you can launch it from system:
      1. Move the Tor directory ‘tor-browser_en-US’ to /opt:sudo mv tor-browser_en-US /opt
      2. cd /opt/tor-browser_en-US

      2. To launch Tor, run: ./tor-browser_en-US/Browsestart-tor-browser &
    5. Install the Adblock Plus extension
  3. Games
    1. Install Steam (then go to Steam Settings Steam Play, and check ‘Enable Steam Play for all other titles’. Note: I found Proton 5.0-9 had stability issues; choose a lower version if needed. Install your favourite games Mine are:
      1. TrackMania Nations Forever
      2. The Secret of Monkey Island
      3. Monkey Island 2: Special Edition
      4. Kentucky Route Zero
      5. Flight Sims: X-Plane (from Steam) or FlightGear (Open Source)
    2. [Optional] Install Lutris (to manage games across sources)
      1. Search for and install games from Lutris.net
      2. Import all installed games
  4. [Optional] lmms: Sound sequencer and synth
  5. Add favourite programs to Taskbar, then lock taskbar.
… and you’re done!

2020.09.23 04:50 Automatic_Cellist_48 (48 m) Am I The Rebound

I met her in a dating site and noticed she was recently separated and had kids (35 f) but saw she was not just sweet but delightfully into the same things as me, culturally and mentally. We are both dedicated parents, well educated, and both eager to express our feelings.
We’ve been having a long deep talks about a lot of things, even her separation and impending divorce. But here’s the part of concern. She’s still publicly married and hasn’t announced her separation or changed her online name to her maiden name. She also hasn’t told anyone about any of this except her parents. This means that despite an amazing month of dating she still hasn’t told any of her friends (family and long time confidants) that she is separated, was on a dating website, or that she met someone and is seeing him exclusively. To me this means that she’s kept a lot of her life secret to her friends, to her family, and it feels like a big red flag for me, since it makes me wonder if there’s future secrets she may keep from me (or if I’ll always be her secret lover).
I want to give her all the space and respect as she works her way thru her divorce and move on with her life, but sometimes I wonder if she’s being 100% with me, or if I’m just the antithesis of what her ex is, and I’m just here to help her move on... and her feelings aren’t genuine for me.
I have been in deceptive relationships in the past and and I’ve grown to be very wary of any sort of dishonesty, including dishonesty by omission and dishonesty by being vague.
Should I consider taking a step back with her, tell her she doesn’t have to stay in this relationship if she’s not ready, and give her space and time to heal alone? Should I continue to talk to her about my dreams of a future with her where I would put her first? Am I doing more harm than good?
I feel deep feeling for her but if I’m part of the problem I want to do the honorable thing

Protests Around the Country Calling to Abolish ICE Motion Law Immigration

ICE controversies
In one of our most recent articles, we discuss about multiple controversies and legal processes that ICE has had to deal with over the past few months.
To give an overview, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency is one of the branches of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and has several functions that aim to reduce, counteract and prevent illegal immigration.
Therefore, some of ICE’s tasks are:
  • Oversee immigration detention centers around the US. These facilities house hundreds of undocumented immigrants who are detained trying to cross the borders unlawfully or who already reside in the country and are detained through ICE raids.
  • Protect the country’s borders.
  • Carry out massive operations to detain undocumented immigrants who managed to cross the borders of the US without legal documentation.
  • Accelerate and supervise deportation processes.
Recently, ICE has been embroiled in a controversy that seems endless, mainly because hundreds of immigrant rights advocates and activists claim that the federal entity violates human rights and harms innocent families, who only yearn to build a promising future in the US.
Do you need to keep up to date with immigration news and policies? Our Blog section can help.

Controversies lead to multiple protests around the country

One of the most scandalous news refers to a nurse who denounces that ICE medical personnel are performing uterus extractions in immigrant women who do not need this procedure.
This news broke last week and evidently sparked a wave of frustration and astonishment among activists, critics, and immigrant communities, who are calling for the abolishment of ICE and immigration policies imposed by the Trump administration.
Therefore, several protests took place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 around the country.
Contact Motion Law Immigration and request your legal documentation as soon as possible. Don’t miss the opportunity to legally reside in the US!

Protests in New York

After this news went viral in the country, hundreds of activists took the streets of Time Square, in New York, calling for the abolishment of ICE.
They state that ICE is forcibly sterilizing women, without any explanation or medical reason to perform a procedure of this magnitude, depriving them of the possibility of having children in the future.
Initially, the protest had a peaceful connotation, but ended in confrontation between the police and citizens. This event led to local authorities arresting nearly 100 protesters.

Protests in St. Louis

On Saturday, there were also protests in St. Louis, a major city in the state of Missouri. Activists in this city also call for the abolishment of ICE and they request to remove immigration policies that allow deportations in a matter of hours, including unaccompanied minors.
ICE has yet to give an answer regarding accusations by the nurse, detained immigrants, protesters and activists.

Avoid illegal immigration!

The health crisis caused by the Coronavirus also unleashed a crisis in the immigration sector of the US, mainly around illegal immigration.
Therefore, the best recommendation will always be to follow the help of experts who can guide you through your legal immigration journey. In this way, you avoid precarious situations for you and your family.

What should I see and where are the non-touristy stuff and hidden gems?

History:

* Have breakfast or brunch on the Queen Mary (not exactly off the beaten path, but also not to be missed)
* Walk or bike down Long Beach, or book a Harbor Tour to learn more about the harbor and history of LBC
* Visit and tour Rancho Los Cerritos and/or Los Alamitos
* Walk around (or rent a boat and row around) Marine Stadium, home of Olympic rowing competitions, or watch a rowing competition (look up the rowers association or dragon boat racing competitions)
* Dinner (fancy) at Parker's Lighthouse or (less fancy) get a sunset view at the patio at Belmont Shore Brewery

Art:

* Visit MOLAA and the lesser known Pacific Islander art museum across the street.
* Grab a cup of coffee and catch some live music while admiring the art at Viento y Agua or Portfolio coffee houses
* Check out a 2nd Saturday art walk in the Arts District or First Friday's in Bixby Knolls, or visit a weekly Farmer's market (Tuesday nights at Cherry and Broadway is one)

* Try out some instruments or record a song at Gilmore Music
* Browse records at any number of fantastic record stores
* Try Cambodian Cuisine (or any number of other amazing foods - from pho to bangers and mash to waffle sandwiches, we have it all.
* Go to the beach (seriously- not many people do)
* Visit the aquarium of the Pacific on a weekday afternoon (tip: they feed the big sharks outside at 2pm, and you can often find discounted tickets online, or see sharks and listen to live music outside on Friday's)
* Take the murder mystery paddle boat dinner cruise

Where should I live? What's x area like?

Bluff Park and Belmont Heights are about as lovely as Long Beach gets.

Bluff Heights is a really historic and charming residential neighborhood.

Alamitos Beach is gritty, charming, and has a youthful energy and a great proximity to other areas. Parking is notoriously bad here and most buildings and homes don’t come with parking.

Bixby Knolls is up towards the northwest side of the city and has some of the city’s most gorgeous Old Money residential areas, and a lot of new restaurants and businesses popping up. It almost feels like a whole other city separate from Long Beach.

The Eastern half of Long Beach (close to Cal State Long Beach) feels much more suburban and residential, and has nice areas like Los Altos and Recreation Park.

Downtown is overpriced and overrated, but it may be your thing.

Try to stay south of 4th St, and definitely south of 7th.

So much of this depends on where exactly your job is located or what vibe you want.

Is x area safe?

Long Beach is relatively safe but can change drastically block to block. Best areas to look for are about 4 blocks from the beach, Bixby Knolls, Belmont shore , east Long Beach by the university /605 freeway, and the area between signal hill / Bixby Knolls is nice.

The overall crime rate in Long Beach is 25% higher than the national average. For every 100,000 people, there are 8.86 daily crimes that occur in Long Beach. Long Beach is safer than 13% of the cities in the United States.

Miscellaneous Questions:

Internet - Spectrum and Frontier are the top two. A lot of areas only have 1 or 2 options at most. Spectrum and Frontier are similar in quality with Spectrum maybe slightly coming out on top.
Here is a site that ranks them: https://www.highspeedinternet.com/ca/long-beach?zip=90814

Tips for posting:

Tell us about you - If you want us to suggest things for you to do then you need to give us a good idea of what you enjoy. Don't just say "I like music", say what type of music. Don't just say you want "somewhere nice to eat", say what type of cuisine you like (or don't like). The more specific you are the better, otherwise you'll just get pointed back to the generic guidebooks, blogs and our wiki (coming soon!).

Tell us your budget - If you're on a budget then tell us what it is and we can bear that in mind when making recommendations. There's no point in us coming up with ideas for things to do and places to eat if they'll clean out your wallet within the first 5 minutes. Saying you want something "cheap" isn't really helpful because what's cheap is entirely subjective.

Tell us where you'll be based - Let us know where you'll be staying so that we can give local recommendations.

Asking about hotels or hostels - We have homes here so know very little about what the hotels are like. Look on review websites such as TripAdvisor. However, if you say "I've been looking at these three hotels. Which do you think is the better location?" then that's the sort of thing we can answer.

2020.09.22 23:02 Mela05 The Witch is In. A Halloween Story of Spells, Potions, and Love.

By Karen B.
“Witches need love too”
Hello my tasty humans and happy Halloween. It looks as if I got back just in time. The decision has been made to shelve the “wealth and power” experimental potion first introduced 1 year ago to a few carefully selected humans. But the lovely citizens of earth aren’t ready for the seductive and addictive side effects that accompany this potion. There is a pandemic sweeping the globe, civil unrest, corrupt and evil politicians that want to take over the world and chaos causing devastating and irreversible consequences for all mankind if we were to allow the potion to work much longer. We will take another look and make appropriate changes in the formula, and hopefully reintroduce this potion again in the generations to come.
In the meantime, myself and a few of my sisters are making a special effort to help each and every person find once again the love in community and satisfaction of making a difference for the good of all. This is our pledge and our promise. Some have reached out and asked how are we going to help the more than 5 billion human souls living on this planet? And our answer is with proven methods successfully executed over thousands of civilizations and worlds much like this one. It’s called...
Magic my darlings, Magic!
And love but we’ll get to all that later.
A message to all who were in the wealth and power experimental program. We have arranged, at no expense to you, a 1 month retreat at the Betty Ford spa and experimental potion resort located on beautiful Lake Superior in Duluth Minnesota. There, you will be pampered and spoiled, enjoy 3 daily meals and snacks, learn meditation, relaxing yoga, daily deep tissue massage. You will have therapy sessions with world renown PhD Dr. Phil 3 times a week.
During your stay in Duluth weekly tours are scheduled to take in the sights and sounds of this beautiful historic city. Among the scheduled tours is a day at the Duluth shipping canal and park. This is a must see to watch the big lake ships arrive on their way to their destination in the harbor. Toot toot! Recommended by Dr. Phil.
This year I am bringing back my most requested spells and potions. For the full price list of all my spells potions and charms visit my webpage [email protected]. Also new this year is my you tube channel. Type in the search bar the witch is in and you will be directed. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the like button. The first 100 subscribers will get a discount on any regular priced spells or potions at my online price list. Sale or reduced items are not eligible for the discount. After the holiday check out my Facebook page. I post bi weekly with news and pictures from me throughout the year. And feel free to leave a post telling me how life is for you. The carriage is Equipped with top of the line shock absorbing technology, a gps satellite system, back up camera, and Bluetooth enabled that will hook into your smart phone from anywhere in the stable or castle. That’s not all you also get a stable manager and trainer to keep the stable clean and in good working condition.

The Kingdom upgrade is only $6000.00 dollars US.
But wait!! Order the Prince and the Kingdom upgrade together before the next full moon and I will knock off 1500.00 dollars on the entire order reducing the final sale to $8500.00. What?! Now that’s something to howl about.
My Number 2 most popular and requested spell.
The Princess: Update: Say hello to Gwen our beautiful new princess that will pave the way for all the other princesses for generations to come. Our research told us that she is highly recommended from Match.com a respectable dating sight. and People and Good Housekeeping Magazines give her 2 thumbs up each. Gwen has passed her physical and her "test of virginity".
Testing virtue used to mean using archaic methods that included sacrifices, volcanos, angry natives, and the toss of a terrified candidate. In the end a crispy Virgin never helped anyone. We needed a live candidate. So we went back to the drawing board and found a potion that was a 100% effective, and safe. It took time to get the natives on board. But after a friendly conversation with the tribal chief explaining the consequences of non compliance the chief and tribe agreed 100% to ban the use of volcanos for sacrifices ending a proud tradition forever. Life is about change and staying alive, right?
Guy's, the Princess is 5' 7" tall, weighs in at 120 pounds, she is 36 24 34. She has long blond hair not from a bottle(her hair color is guaranteed for 30 years not to change, fade, or darken.) Blue eyes a perfect peaches and cream complexion, and a smile that's guaranteed to make you fall instantly in love until the next morning. The Princess includes a generous dowry a 24k gold tiara and her parents the king and queen. Occasionally the parents of the princess become somewhat demanding after moving into the castle by changing the chefs menu, writing all new material for the court jester for example, and causing unwanted turmoil within your castle. This makes for an unhappy and angry staff. Before that happens and the staff starts to walk away threatening you with law suits and organizing a lynch mob text or email me. For a small fee I can make the parents disappear without the cops snooping around and asking a lot of stupid questions. The price for the princess? only $9000.00 dollars US. firm. Total payment due at time of order. No exceptions. No refunds.
POTION’S
“Love is in the air” with my #1 most requested potion
Love Potion #9.
You’ve demanded it, we slaved over a hot cauldron for months, and now we are bringing it to you direct. Hands down the best love potion on the market today. * see our test results in March 2020 consumer report. My love potion will make any person you are....obsessed with, stalking, losing sleep over, kidnapping or thoughts thereof, texting, tweeting, instagramming, you get the idea, become completely and utterly in love with you like they were in a catatonic state. If love is what you seek, I have the cure.
*Disclaimer. Read and be informed before you buy. Each sale of Love Potion #9 contains a strict warning. Be careful what you wish for. Love Potion #9 is guaranteed for the life of the recipient. There is no antidote, and no refunds. Only $100.00 US dollars per dose.
My second most requested potion.....
  1. THE YOUTH POTION. Tired of being old and in the way? My youth potion guarantees all the physical attributes you enjoyed in your 20’s and 30’s. Included in the purchase of each bottle of the youth potion is all your hair and teeth back in their original condition as God intended. Strength, coordination, and walking without the use of chairs, canes, or help from Nurse Rachet at “the home.” In fact you will enjoy once again the freedom and independence to live life la vida loco!!!
The Youth Potion does have a shelf life of 1 year so buy several bottles and never be interrupted by old age again. * Youth Potion does require a consultation by me and a mandatory class titled “ How to enter back in the workforce, pay your federal taxes on time for another 40 years, and like it.” So make an appointment today for the current price.
As you are aware the Wealth and Power Potion has been scrapped for now. However I have a brand new and safe alternative potion introduced in June 2020 at the National Convention of Modern Witches Warlocks and Wizardry in Salem Mass. (M.W.W.S.M.)
This potion has been tested and proven safe for human consumption.
The Bug Out, and Quick Escape For Any Situation Potion.
Here’s a few examples of how you could use this useful and effective potion. A marriage gone south. It happens from time to time. Don’t ever admit blame just one dose of this potion and poof! You get the house car custody of the kids a handsome alimony award, all without watching your x spouse have a melt down in court. Saving yourself much time and stress and all without the expense of a corrupt divorce lawyer.
Another example, a conspiracy theory suddenly is fact. You only have minutes to get you and your dog to safety. The last spaceship to Mars is full and already high tailed it off this planet. Now what do you do? Good question. Suddenly you remember the Quick Escape Potion you purchased from the Witch Is In on last years list of spells and potions. You locate it and quickly ingest it. You feel lightheaded and fall back on your bed. The room begins to turn it’s like your in the funnel of a tornado, going down further into a kind of a semi conscious state of reality. Spinning and spinning. All goes black. The next thing you know you wake up to a world full of little people and a yellow brick road. WTF? Yes Dorothy you and your little dog have been saved by a tornado and are starting a new life here well you can name it anything you want. You are safe right? Just think of the possibility’s! Starting life over again is never easy by any stretch of your imagination. If you see two moons in the sky not one so what you will get used to it. Everything you need is here. All you have to do is click your heels three times and chant “I hope there’s a home improvement store on this hell hole.” But all in all you know it’s not so bad and you will have family again. And new memory’s to cherish. And ah people who love you. Yes they dress a little weird here but you can get used to that as well. In time. So go make a new life and embrace it. Have you met Glenda? You will love her and she’s here to help.....
Just kidding. The Earth will not implode any time soon. But isn’t it comforting to know you have the option to change in an instant in any situation? The Witch Is In wants you and every inhabitant on Earth to know we are here for you and we will protect you. You can’t put a value on what is priceless. Love for each other, community and trust. That’s what is important above all else.
Well my tasty humans that’s it for the 2020 pricelist of new and updated spells and potions. It’s almost Halloween and soon I will disappear until harvest moon next year. Get your last minute orders in now. Operators are standing by. Call now and as always love you bunches !!!
Have a safe and happy Halloween!!!

2020.09.22 16:54 Torid0928 My Experience with Carvana and Bridgecrest, the Warranty Company

I’ve had a great experience with Carvana, and an okay experience with Silverrock. Just to give some background, I live in New Jersey and I am close enough to the PA vending machine that shipping was available.
First off, as an anxious-ridden odd mix of maybe being a millennial or a gen-z, I really appreciate the idea of ordering a car online and not dealing with a dealership or, worse, a creepy guy on Facebook Marketplace. As a woman, it’s nice that I didn’t have some guy trying to tell me what fake warranty would be better for me.
I digress. The actual ordering of the car was ridiculously easy. My dream car was always a Volkswagen Beetle, so being able to look at a bunch of them on a screen with the final price RIGHT there was nice. Note, the price they give you in that little estimator IS the final price. There is no other option.
Actually “buying” the car felt like a purchase on Amazon. Even when I had to select the delivery date, I thought I was ordering a charging cable for my phone. They offered some sort of longer warranty, but I didn’t think it was worth it to be honest.
Finally, with a down payment of $3,000 dollars over my head, I waited anxiously for my delivery date to happen.
First, I DID get a phone call after I submitted the required documents (which was very easy. The website guides you through it). So, if you see an 800 number, for once, you have to answer it. The guy was very nice and was just making sure I wasn’t a fake person. He also explained some reasonable terms.
Thank you guys for the seven day return policy. That was an excellent idea. And even better that you only take the money after seven days.
So, after the phone call, they said they would deliver it five days later. Five days came, and they sent me an email that it was delayed to three days later. Was I bitter? A bit, but I understand that things happen.
The day they arrived was perfect! He was literally ON TIME, which was awesome. The delivery guy was very nice (and followed Covid rules). I actually had to take a picture of myself with my license and insurance card rather than have him physically take it. We communicated by email and text.
If I could recommend anything about the drop off, is that just have SOME car knowledge. Open the hood, makes sure hoses look good. If you’re clueless (like me), bring up a picture of the car’s engine and just give a quick look to see if it looks roughly the same. I had my father with me, a retired mechanic, and I got the head nod of respect from him. My dad did comment on the coolant, but he wasn't too worried. By the way, while the Carvana person is there, test the buttons, radio, features, etc. Anything that usually breaks inside the car, check.
I signed like two things of paper, then he was off and I had a car.
I had seven days to bring it to a mechanic / dealership and have a safety check on it. Yes, if it’s a used Carvana car, I highly recommend bringing it somewhere to get it looked over. Me being me, I went literally an hour after getting the car and took it right to Volkswagen. Immediately, they noticed the cam shack (listen, not a car person so I apologize if that’s not right) was leaking and would eventually leave to engine break down. The coolant was also very dark brown.
Do what you will with the 500 point inspection on Carvana. Coolant being brown is a big no-no, and I am shocked that they considered that okay. I understand missing the big engine thing considering you have to take it apart, but the coolant? No way.
So, with those problems, here comes using the 100 day warranty on the car. The dealership, NOT ME, deals with the entire thing. So, the dealership quotes the car, THEN calls Silverrock with the quote before they do any work on it. Then, the dealership and the Silverrock people fight it out. They decide what is covered, and then I pay the difference. If you do not go to Silverock recommended mechanic (which you can find a list of on their site), there is a $50 co-pay to the mechanic no matter what.
They covered the big engine thing which was $1,200. To my annoyance, they did NOT cover the coolant. I paid, out of pocket, $500 even after calling silverrock myself and complaining about it (a big thing for me, considering I loathe everything that is not the written word).
So, after all that, I AM happy with the car. It is my dream car, I got it at a good interest rate, and I SUPPOSE the 100 day warranty covered SOMETHING. I am really, really bitter about the extra $500 I had to spend, but to me… I LOVE THE CAR, OKAY. It truly is my dream and I love driving it.
Paying is also easy. The app is very nice and I like the autopay option.
Do what you will with this info. I figured someone out there wanted to know how everything went with COVID-19.
I am still waiting on my license and registration even after 23 days. It’s mid pandemic in New Jersey and I know that the temporary plates now last three months past expiration, so I’m not worried. The inspection sticker is going to be annoying when I finally have to do that. Ahhh Jersey.

Statements by Dr Hinshaw:
School Cases
  • 5 schools have had alerts ended
  • 81 schools with 1+ cases (total of 126 cases)
  • 6 new school outbreaks (19 total), defined as 2+ cases in last 14 days
  • 2 schools with likely in-school transmission: Vimy Ridge in Edmonton and Springfield Elementary School in Peace River
  • Again, not unexpected
  • 2 schools on "Watch" status (5+ cases). Vimy Ridge has 6 cases currently
  • 3% of all schools have had cases to date. Transmission has been identified in ~3% of school with cases
  • Sees this as a positive start
Foothills Medical Centre
  • Covid death over weekend occurred at Foothills
  • All acute care outbreaks are taken very seriously
  • 14 patients, 4 staff members in 3 units have tested positive
  • Public health investigation underway and AHS has taken swift action
  • Widespread testing is underway and more cases are likely to be detected
  • Patients with symptoms or are positive are treated in designated rooms
  • Foothills is safe and there is no increased risk for patients
St Joseph's College
  • Men's residence site on the University of Alberta has an outbreak
  • 5 cases
Cohorts
  • Common question is "what are cohorts"?: Small group where physical distancing can be relaxed
  • Household (+15 others), with the cohort definition being consistent for the entire household
  • Coworkers or other people in religious gatherings are NOT cohorts
  • How many sports cohorts can a child be in?: Many factors, including sport, and must be personally decided
  • There is no plan to raise sport cohort size in the immediate future (currently 50)
Q&A - Foothills
  • How worrying is Foothills outbreak?: Acute care outbreaks are always a concern. Seems to have occurred with in-hospital transmission between patients. Factors surrounding the introduction of Covid into the hospital is being investigated. Lessons of Misericordia are being applied
  • Are patients/visitors/staff not masking?: Investigation underway, so no conclusion yet. Inconsistent masking use reported with visitors and being investigated. Report of staff member who worked while symptomatic. We need to better understand why these both occurred as to prevent it from happening again
  • Is it concerning one outbreak is in cardiac unit?: Absolutely a concern - heart disease is a risk factor. Patients will be tested regularly (even if asymptomatic) and situation will be monitored closely
Q&A - Schooling
  • Comments on slow test results for students?: Wants mild symptomatic students to get tested quickly so they can get back to school quickly if negative (currently a work in progress with a lot of work going into it). Close contacts, independent of test result, must stay home because negative tests may develop into positive cases
  • Edmonton Public School has 48 staff, 545 students sent home. Comment?: Knows this has significant impact, is incredibly inconvenient, and understands the frustration. Does not want to downplay this, but vast majority of cases acquired disease in community. Cases in school aged individuals tracks with cases in community (Interjection - I think this is to mean that schools aren't increasing transmission). Asks for patience for the next few weeks as techniques in isolating are refined
  • Were there projections for school cases?: Emphasizes that projections are just a ballpark.
  • How many cases are too many for in-person learning?: Repeats that school aged cases are tracking with community spread, with the important number being number of in-school transmission cases. Education is best given in-person and has a significant benefit to the student's overall health (including social development, learning, educational development)
  • BC reduced screening for schooling. Will Alberta?: Discussion has been made. Alberta isn't far enough along to determine if symptoms can be removed without increasing Covid outbreak risk. Will watch other regions to see their experience
Q&A - Other
  • Who polices gathering sizes in small communities?: Organizers of the event, participants. Assistance and reminders can be provided by law enforcement, public health services, and a complaints website is available through Environmental Public Health. Difficult to do in real time, so if you see an event, try to give AHS a heads up early
  • Plans to change gathering size?: Not planned. Currently watching patterns of transmissions and will discuss restrictions if needed
  • Update to spread of cases in Edmonton?: 1/2 of active cases in Edmonton are close contacts of a confirmed case. Seeing if this spread in particular can be reduced. 1/3 are unknown source and checking of trends are occurring with these cases. Many cases are related to social events, but seeing workplace spread as well
Additional information will be logged below:
  • Calgary Upper NE's active cases: 100 (rose to 100 over weekend)
  • Edmonton Northeast's active cases: 101 (+7 since Friday)

2020.09.21 22:48 Healing_touch My friends are willing to pay for a subscription to a dating site and I’m trying to source out... what site and what has your experience been like?

Maybe this is a weird fucking question and I’m sorry if it is. I’m not 100% ready to do a paid site because I just had a wild fucking curveball thrown at me and want sometime to process.
But while I do, I was interested to hear people’s experiences who are actively/recently been Online dating (because anyone I’ve heard from found someone 5-6 years ago and as we all know, the dating world is much different now than it was then).
So hit me... what sites, the pros the cons and any tips? Any advice?
If this isn’t allowed I’m so sorry.
Edit: I’m in the PNW in a more tech dominated area

2020.09.21 18:38 flyinmacaronimonster PSA: When you get your ballot, drop it off at a drop-box instead of mailing it back

EDIT: Master list of Drop-Boxes found here:
https://www.state.nj.us/state/elections/vote-secure-drop-boxes.shtml
NOTE: The purpose of this post is to show you where you can find a 24/7 drop-box that is most convenient to you, within the county that you will be voting in.*This page will be updated as more information comes along.*
As you may or may not know, due to COVID-19, New Jersey has transitioned to what is essentially an all-mail (or mostly all-mail) election system for the 2020 General Election. In other words, EVERY REGISTERED VOTER will received a ballot by mail.
(see: N.J. EO-177 in the list of links below for more details on the Executive Order.)
In light of this executive order, at least 10 drop-boxes per county (bottom of page 6 in the executive order) will be available for use (should be available no later than early October) This way you can safely and securely drop off your ballot, and 100% guarantee that it will be received by your Board of Elections on time.
First off, if you are not registered to vote, do so now. The deadline is Tuesday, October 13, which is 3 weeks before Election Day. You may do so online using this link:
https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration.shtml
As of Monday, September 21, mail ballots have already started to go out to registered voters in certain counties in New Jersey. The sending out of ballots is a rolling process, and specific send-out dates vary by county, SO BE PATIENT IF YOU HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT YET. Ballots in general are sent out approximately 45-30 days before Election Day, so start dates for sending out ballots should be some time between Friday, September 18 and Monday, October 5.
If you have already received your ballot, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY, fill out your ballot, and then SIGN YOUR NAME IN THE CORRECT PLACE. If you are concerned about your signature not matching, according to the Executive Order (N.J. EO-177; link at the bottom of the page), there will be a ballot cure process established for mismatched or defective signatures (see page 12, item #16).
Once you have done that, find your closest drop-box and drop off your ballot. All ballot drop-boxes will be secure, monitored around-the-clock and will be available 24/7, meaning that you can safely and securely drop off your ballot at any time, and on any date that is most convenient to you. Ballots need to be dropped off by 8:00pm on Election Day.
I will be detailing each county drop-box situation on a county-by-county basis.

While you may also hand-deliver your ballot directly to your county Board of Elections during office hours, due to COVID-19, it is strongly recommended that you use a drop-box instead. Please note that if you decide to hand-deliver your ballot to the clerk, you will need to provide a photo ID (like a driver's license) and sign a registry when dropping off your ballot.
If you have somebody else hand-deliver your ballot to the clerk's office, they will need to sign their name as a designated bearer on the outer envelope, this person will also need to show ID and sign a registry when they drop a ballot that is not their own. A BEARER CANNOT DELIVER MORE THAN 3 BALLOTS AT A TIME. Also, DO NOT GIVE YOUR BALLOT TO ANYBODY THAT YOU DO NOT FULLY TRUST. IF IN DOUBT, DROP IT OFF YOURSELF.
(see N.J. Stat. Ann. §19:63-9 a. and N.J. Stat. Ann. §19:63-16 d. in the links below for full definition of the law:)
As an additional note, it is unclear if this rule will be applied to drop-boxes, but still do your best to respect the rules and limit ballot-drop off to no more than 4 voters, including the bearer themself.
In terms of in-person voting, it will be limited, and will only be used with paper provisional ballots. YOUR VOTE WILL COUNT if you use a provisional ballot (as long as it has been cleared, which it should be as long as you haven't voted already). The issue is, though, that voting options will likely be limited due to COVID-19, so please drop off your ballot that will be mailed to you.

2020.09.21 14:50 Draemeth [For Hire] Marketing and SEO

My name is Zack Frederick and I started doing marketing several years ago as i began my first yoga ‘e-business', realising very quickly that the difference between me and the next John Doe wasn’t the product but the presentation. So I set about, by trial and error, learning how I could sell more Yoga mats than John Doe. It wasn’t long before I realised I was very good at the marketing aspect, and I didn’t really like things like warehousing and distribution.
Today I’m most interested in building reports, designing paid campaigns and helping with Instagram.
I’ve compiled a few free tips for general marketing and SEO.

Brand awareness

First off. Influencers will not magically make your website successful. You have to be your own influencer. Over my tenor, I have spent thousands on social media analysis, rebranding and learning tricks like sticking state names across American products or even changing the colour of my website depending on the demographics of my audience. Spoilers, guys love red. Here’s an example data set. https://imgur.com/gallery/7OHIx
Last year, I ran a campaign for one of my shoe clients, and we used the pride of state consumers to grow his shoe business. I researched the best colours to use for different states and gave him a list, we put the state names across his shoes and marketed directly to them through instagram. It wasn’t long before his conversion metrics were soaring.
Here's an example report from one of my clients - https://prnt.sc/iisqv8

Value

I have worked with a lot of musicians, a big part of them started with low view, audio-only videos. I learnt quickly that for them to achieve success they had to provide value, so i told them to create videos. They did and then ta-da, they had 4500 views when they only had 200 view music videos before. For the next step, I even got them contacts with massive digital celebrities. My proudest connection having been ‘Ninja’ during the height of his fortnite campaign, I organised the marketing behind several viral Fortnite music parodies with now millions of views.

Trend riding

Make use of trends in your business. If something is so mainstream and big, why ignore it? In the past I have made use of the political trends in the American election with trump AND hillary brands on some of my clients products, with the pro trump and pro hillary supporters wanting to sport their political beliefs no matter the cost.
I see a lot of website based businesses underuse social media with broad attempts at Facebook ads and Instagram ads, ill go to digital marketing agencies and see they either have no social following or a huge botted one. It's a terrible idea to buy followers, if you want to cut corners then you should look at buying a smaller business with a bigger social following.
Here’s the impressions from a tweet I made on the first day of creating a company a twitter platform and using trend riding and collaboration to grow it https://prnt.sc/huziu6 4K Impressions on one tweet in 15 minutes - we hit 80k impressions in the first day. I did this from simply mimiking the formula for success from a similiar company account, i don't want to try change the magic formula for success.

Direction

Adapt

You really do have to stay in touch with your business to know what's working and what isn't, companies like Toys R Us refused to do that and stuck with huge stockpiles of star wars toys and then they collapsed. Blockbusters where ahead of the curve for digital movies and then they refused to change, Netflix changed and Netflix won. Amazon learnt to use online selling and left companies like Tescos with financial crisis.
The big boom in marketing that I’ve seen is social media marketing, marketers can create huge social following for companies and use that platform to sell content for extremely low costs in comparison to the tens of thousands it costs to use other platforms such as radio. Social media marketing has become somewhat controversial, but it is important to always stay open minded.

Collaboration** & Viral content

I can not stress the importance of working with other people. Every billionaire i know of has had a mentor, every big company success story had business partners. I've had far more success in clients who have listened to me and done collaborative work with digital celebs, with a dog product business making thousands of sales when they worked with vlogger Zoella and gave her free products.
Viral content is very important because every Youtuber with over 1 million subscribers has started off big and managed to keep it big, nobody grinded and slowly rose up at an equal exponent. Hard work is fine but being consistent and mixing it up, copying the viral content of others is an easy way of bringing in secondary viewership and traffic. Pewdiepie, the biggest youtuber on the planet, started with viral horror content. Ninja, the biggest streamer, grinded for 7 years but only truly struck gold with the virality of Fortnite. So it makes sense to repeat their methods.

Key words

It is an obvious thing to say but it's neglected, key words are very important. I had a crypto business come to me and ask why their site wasnt doing very well, and i looked through it and saw they never mentioned anything beyond bitcoin. Bitcoin is a very expensive key word to market, with costs of the raw word being as high as 38$ per click. I had to bring them down to earth with harsh truths, i rewrote their entire site using SEM tools in mind - with key words and phrases like "Altcoin exchange" and using the names of the top 100 altcoins across the site.

SEO

Search Engine Optimisation is the name given to increasing the value and raw volume of your organic traffic. A successful website always wants as many of the most likely consumer base to encounter their product because that’s the hardest point of digital business. Your websites SEO is determined by crawlers which regularly check up on your website and update their index which is later used by an algorithm to order results when someone ‘googles’ something.
Today I’m going to be talking you through some key points about SEO that I personally audit for businesses.

Domains

Https://Www.Example.Com is an example of something we call a ‘root domain’ which is made up of protocol (https://) subdomain (www.) domain name (example) and top-level domain (.com). These are the basic parts. It’s important that the protocol is the best and safest it can be or else google will punish you. It’s also important your domain name and top-level domain are appropriate and readable. The words used in your subdomain can also affect how customers interpret your website, websites can be named after their market base for easy marketing. In addition, the age and previous registrations of your domain matter. It’s important these factors are appropriately considered in your website. Be minimal with subdomains.

Targeting

Google knows where it’s users are and what they’re using from their browser data, IPs and MACs and then matches them with websites in their areas or appropriate to searches. Ever since the infamous 2016 update ‘Possum’ it is not something you can ignore. Even jobs based websites had to use the meta data ‘Jobs Schema’ (from 2017 onwards) to tell google where your website was focused. Location specific landing pages matter. You have to pay credence to DNS (domain name server) and Glue to keep TTL (time to load) and mobile in mind, especially with more mobile users than ever. CMS (customs) is also part of this discussion: themes and plugins are a factor in Google’s ranking. One way to improve TTL is through CDN’s and we have to consider how we approach them to rank better. Sometimes, you might face penalties and there are ways to know; that’s a little too hard to explain here but PM me for more.

Content

Nobody loves a book more than google. Robots will read all your website, even the stuff humans don’t bother with. Things like duplication will annoy Google who doesn’t like reading things twice. CTA’s (buttons basically) have to go somewhere nice and if they don’t work properly google will punish you. Human biases are important too. The user experience will effect their retention and Google will clock that. There’s also lots of minor things that can stack up: Filenames (help you rank on Images) Thin content (Google sees it as lazy) phrase diversity (spamming key words is noticed) and URL structures too! Make sure your in and outbound links are healthy as well as having keyword mapping where you assign the correct words to the right pages. Make sure your anchor texts (viewable when linking) are descriptive yet succinct. And finally: link velocity, a healthy eco system of link building is important to longevity and renewed SEO.

Technical Stuff.

Consistent anchor elements are important to prevent 404s. Don’t use abbreviations with naming files and folders. Limit use of dates for file folder names. Your site architecture has to be simple and close to the root domain so the click depth isn’t too great! Links to and from your site can’t be dead ends, and use breadcrumbs! Be wary of canonical issues from similar content across multiple URLs. Treat Cookies and Session IDs properly, privacy laws are ever changed and mismatching them can be dangerous. There’s lots more to go into like header status codes, site maps, GSC Crawl Errors but Reddit has a text limit so I’ve deleted some of my post.
